Quite feasible in 5 years . I think

PCBs will have capability to have embedded optical traces along with copper 
ones.
Lenses/xyz replace balls of xGAs for Ultra High speed signals , with optical 
sources and sensors in silicon/xyz directly coupling to optical traces.

Rest of them is already very much in use.
OC768 is running at 40G thru optics.
Most of the IP network are over optical network

But SI people will still be needed for those low speed signals, say sub 
100Ghz :)
