I went to the California State Capital yesterday. The following post is one I sent to Stormy, and she asked that I post it to the list. My comment, we all need to do what we can to fight back. One day this kind of legislation may come to your state. We need to organize and do everything in our power, as individual's to make sure that legislation does not take the right to own and breed dogs away from us. Beryl Eshom Arelee GSD Davis, CA *************************************************************** What a day! I am beat. After the disappointment, all those who were gathered met outside by county. We gathered names, wrote checks to help fight this etc. The young gal who headed up my county was sharp. We all exchanged email address etc. There were a lot of people who were in opposition, they wore "YES" buttons. But I do think we out numbered them with our "NO" buttons. A few people got into a rather heated exchange from what I could see. I think that many seem to incorrectly lump all of "us" into a group not unlike puppy millers, breeding litter after litter etc. That is not true for most of those I know, never has been, never will be. Bottom line Stormy, it was an experience, and Beryl is BEAT ! I did manage to meet up with Debbie, but lost her in the crowd when everyone was leaving. For the most part I think "our" side was very well organized. Everyone wore buttons and many carried signs, until they were told they could not carry those signs inside the building. My own county YOLO, met together and we have a good group who will do what we can, as I said we have email addresses and we are going to stay in contact, and fight this the best we can. There certainly was a crowd. They sent us down to cafeteria area, and we could hear and watch a streaming video. It was so crowded you couldn't move. I did see lots of people I knew from other breeds. There were big crowds outside each door waiting to get in. I am beat, left home before 7 am, got home at 7 pm. That was partly my fault because I didn't pay attention and took a few to many wrong streets! I am not a CITY GIRL, never have been, never will be. LOL I didn't see Paul. I think there are 4 different entrances into the Capitol building. I went around the side as there were so many at the front, that was how I met up with Debbie, luckily. I lost track of her afterwards when we divided up by county.Well at least our side made their presence known, we were a crowd, focused , but in control, like good guys IMHO.
