[ SHOWGSD-L ] when your feelings are strong...

Today I was suppose to have my 10 year old Jane spayed and 2 mammary  
tumours removed. Got her all bathed and ready yesterday, fed her early last  
night and did all the right things.  For 3 days I have had the worst  feeling 
in 
the world about this surgery.  Not that I didn't trust the vet,  I do.  He 
is a good surgeon. But something has just been eating me up about  this, and 
in close to 40 years of breeding dogs and many surgeries I could not  shake 
this feeling.
Took her in and discussed my feelings with one of the vet techs I  trust.  
My vet was in emergency surgery so she went to tell him how I  feel.  
Verdict...they both felt if my feelings were this strong, I should  not do the 
surgery.  I talked to him also and he checked the tumours and  said there has 
been no growth since first discovered close to a month and a half  ago.   His 
opinion..not life threatening and anything can go wrong  with old dogs and 
surgery.
So Jane came home, my over stress is gone and I just feel I did the right  
thing.
Sometimes you have to go with intuition.  If I had lost her on the  table, 
I would have beaten myself up forever.
 
Thought I would share as truly after all is said and done...it IS all about 
 the dogs and the love we have for them.
