the greatest dog in the history of my life is a black Lab named Woodson who
leads my blind ex-wife through the streets of San Jose......who a few years ago
was attached by a loose pit-bull while leading my ex.....man I love that
dog!...Ed

That was excellent, Evan. Â It got me to thinking of all the other Â
ways dogs are utilized.... (yes, they are utilized for showing:-). Â
There is a whole different group out there who are devoted to training Â
their dogs for SAR and Cadaver work, thousands of people who have Â
their own network,magazines, gathering. Â Packs of hounds... same Â
thing, a whole group dedicated for the improvement of their dogs and Â
their work. Â REAL working dogs... No AKC registration, the pedigrees Â
are often in the memories of the stockmen who utilize these dogs in a Â
real world, but still have trials to show off their dogs. Â Real life Â
coursers, .... Â ATF, Guide Dog, Service Dog kennels who research the Â
lines dog by dog to have the best ones continue their lines, Â
crossbreeding if best for the dogs' use, without a concern for a Â
purebred, but very concerned for the health, temperament (for the Â
job), etc., etc.
There are so many ways those people who love dogs can enjoy, work Â
with, be with their dogs that we should remember that exhibiting them Â
in rings is really but a very small part of the Dog World. Â If it Â
becomes too frustrating, political, costly, people who still want to Â
have a dog activity will not have a problem finding one.
