You could be right, but I've never heard a dog described as a moist
dog.
The problem with absolutes (such as judges saying they absolutely
won't put up a dog with... whatever... is that as they grow more
experienced as judges, people realize that there are no absolutes in
judging...because the dogs are different every day, the conditions
are different every day, and mostly, because we judges are, after
all, only human.
It is possible for a judge to fall in love with a dog somewhere and
then, when that dog is shown under that judge, there is another dog
there that the judge loves better...or the first dog may be having an
off day, or have gained or lost weight, or dropped coat, OR, perhaps
on the first time the judge saw the dog it was out of coat and looked
great, but when shown to that judge, the full coat is there...and it
is too much...destroying the outline of the dog and just making the
dog not look as good.
Most judges don't judge on one criteria alone (at least they
shouldn't) and while it is possible to figure out what one thing a
particular judge really likes, all the above applies...and a judge
who has gone 20 years without ever putting up a dog, for example,
whose ribs can be counted from outside the ring can, on any given
day, fall all over him or herself over a dog that's desperately in
need of a few good meals...it can possess beautiful type, be in hard
condition, be in coat, and move like a textbook example...and the
judge will overlook the skinniness of it....or whatever.

So, if you were trying to say that something in between a wet dog
and a dry dog is probably ideal, you are probably right.
But...again..every day is different.
   Lots of help, huh?
