Delta goes to Atlanta, Ga. first...or possibly a secondary hub. United goes to Chicago first or a secondary hub like Denver. An airline flight either has to go to its own main hub FIRST.....or if it has one possibly a secondary hub to 'distribute' the flights all over. United is one of the FEW to have secondary hub like Denver....as does Delta. ( That is why the Atlanta Nationals were so successful....Delta was EASY into a main hub!!! ) ( THIS is why Denver OR Salt Lake City are good doable sites using United....maybe Delta! ) Just got a puppy here temporarily.... flying into Sacramento, Calif. from Phoenix, Arizona... and it had to go to ATLANTA, Ga. FIRST...from Phoenix, Arizona!! Atlanta being Delta's main hub. Airlines almost always go to their own main hub FIRST...then the flights are distributed all over. It does not matter if it is an INTERNATIONAL airport. Sacramento is an International Airport.. When you fly on Continental....to anywhere.....you almost always go to Houston first. When you fly on Delta into a smaller airport....you usually go to Atlanta first....sometimes another secondary hub which usually is Denver...or Minn./ St. Paul. .... maybe St. Louis now? Delta changes.... Some of these hubs change as airlines buy each other out...but the basics are the same. Occasionally someone finds a flight that works as the airlines change, especially with a HUGE airport like San Francisco or LAX or Chicago, or Houston, or Atlanta, or Dulles often have enough flights coming IN to make it easier to get a direct flight. Most of us do not live near one of these main huge airports. Good for the Committee to check airlines main hubs when having a National REALLY in the WEST or REALLY in the EAST. PS...West of the Mississippi is not WEST....and East of the Continental Divide is not EAST. ( CENTRAL to the West maybe....and CENTRAL to the East maybe..... <G> ) Carolyn marhaven@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx www.marhaven.com From: edwinx@xxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:edwinx@xxxxxxxxxxx] Subject: Re: [ SHOWGSD-L ] Re: west locations I'm pretty sure United and Delta are both hubs for SF Airport!
