Tari, of course we want good temperament, but I can't say we want it "more" than other breeds want it. Breeds that have a job to do, herding, hunting, working etc., all value good temperament. I'm on the same page w/ Vicki on this one. By us making such a deal of it, we look silly to people who know dogs (who realize by the time a dog gets to a group ring, they're trained for anything and they aren't seeing a true picture anyway), and to John Q public in general who figures if we're making such a big deal, there must be a problem. Other breeds don't do it, but if you look closely, they aren't rewarded for bad temperament either. (Well, of course, you never know what a judge will do <G>, let's say they aren't rewarded w/ greater frequency than they are in the GSD ring, test and all).
