When I hire a w/ a tax attorney, estate planner or CPA, their job is to
show me how to set things up to pay the least amount of taxes and keep me out
of trouble. If a complicated tax law has two interpretations, I want to
use the interpretation that favors me. If that's dishonest, so be it (I call
it good planning). The majority of my income STILL goes to one tax or
another...yes the MAJORITY.
I congratulate the board for doing a little panning in this area and
exploring their options.

I may have said that wrong. When told we could not take the money from
the
profits, but had to give it away, it was asked if we couldn't say we
loaned the organization money and then take it back a payment of the loan.
Since I am a member of tax court, and have defended clients for just this
sort of thing, I found the idea of falsifying a loan troubling. I don't
think anyone was trying to be dishonest, just asking how to be.
And, Stormy gave a great report and urged the board to set up a stronger
legislation committee. She is a big treasure to our sport, and we need
to
support her and her efforts.
