Did you know you're not supposed to give flagyl to puppies? And that one

I seriously didn't know until recently (I prefer the old pumpkin or dried
potato flake or bene-bac solution to a dog w/ diarrhea), so I don't keep it
here, but a puppy I bred was administered 250 mg of flagyl by the owner's
vet
for 7 days following eating something that upset his tummy and sure
enough....who knew????
Google it, you'll see the side effects. Something else to put in the puppy
packet.....

As a matter of course, for years, I gave Flagyl to all my puppies, as we had
giardia on the premises. I never had any sort of problem with it, and I gave
it for one month, preventatively, to all litters starting at 3 weeks. My vet
at that time was Dr. Harmon Rogers, who is now the head of the veterinary
department at the world famous Pullman school. He said, (when I brought a pup
in
for fecal), don't even bother, you know you have it, (the giardia), just
give it to every litter for a month, I seem to have rid the property of it
now,
(two or three dry winters) but I would have been in terrible trouble without
it. They never had any side effects, and I would do it again if my pups were
symptomatic. As a matter of course, any pup or dog who has diarrhea gets it,
and it almost always clears in up in 1 - 2 days. Flagyl (Fishzole is what I
use), is useful for all types of intestinal problems. Syd
