St. Louis may be a 'popular site' because so many Board members are close to
it....and possibly they do believe
they are saving money for that reason. But if this trend continues, the Club
could possibly lose more money than
they save in the long run.
This is a "National" dog club.....with members all over this Nation that
should be represented. Nothing will lose dues
paying Club members faster than being ignored, or not even being considered
with some of the decisions that literally
seem to be ignoring their wishes.... or leaves them out of most of the
participation of Club activities.
Lose members...you lose money. Making the National 'convenient' to the
wishes of the Board and not those who
support and make the National a success with their entries and you lose more
money and more members. In the
end....you lose any real reason for the National if a great deal of the
members start giving it up.
We are seeing that with losing some of our Specialty Clubs that are failing.
Once they start losing entries to their
Specialty Shows...it's the beginning of losing the Club!!

] Re: upcoming board meeting, location and more
I can't imagine in this day & age that the phone conferencing would be
cancelled! It was mentioned at the October 2015 meeting about how the entire
meeting could be a phone conference... And saving the club even MORE money than
meeting in St Louis! (I happen to think that is a great idea... Thousands of
savings every quarter on no plane tickets, hotel stays, per diem, etc).
That few of the committee chairs, etc ever live near where (even a rotating)
meeting is held, it just wouldn't make sense to not have the phone conference
available.
I do know that St. Louis has been a popular site with "many board members being
close"; apparently saving on airline tickets and possibly a hotel bill. I do
understand that, but again, to really be saving money, what's wrong with a
phone conference for everyone? Now that would be fair for everyone who
"attended", regardless of where they lived. Just sayin'...

There have been some good discussions on the GSDforum page on facebook for the
past several days about national
locations and the possibility 2017 won't end up west but at Purina
again...guess that will be a topic at the next board meeting
next weekend.
But another concern with the meeting coming up next weekend......why must EVERY
board meeting now be in St Louis? Used to be all over the country so members in
different area's could attend if they wished. There is too much focus on St
Louis. With the national being there several years in a row the members should
have the opportunity of a meeting within range to attend. If the telephone
conferencing access does not continue (have heard Carmen will not allow this)
then how do we stay informed when information is not always forthcoming?
The coat and white issue got attention and info was widespread because members
attended via telephone conferencing and
got info first hand....it was not because the board dished that out to us.
SERIOUS concerns about the old school taking the reign again and we become even
littler people again....and no,I did not
vote for that.
I am glad we have some new members that will be difficult to put gag orders
on.........
