I had a male that was diagnosed at 10 with this. He had no signs of pain at
all until 10, but was in severe pain rather suddenly. The vet, at first,
thought it was bone cancer. My vet felt surgery wasn't an option at that age
and wouldn't be much help either. We opted for cortisone injections every few
months. They helped greatly with the pain, though he still had a slight limp
the rest of his life. When he showed signs of pain, we'd bring him back in for
another injection and, within, a couple of days, he improved. He lived to
12 1/2 and was put down for cancer, NOT the elbow.
