Years ago I read an article in which it stated that Ethoxyquin was harmful
to dogs. Can't remember which dog food it was that showed it as one of the
ingredients/supplements. It mentioned that it would or could cause cancer.
Since then I have always carefully checked the ingredients.

Sounds like this guy is having trouble maintaing enough healthy bacteria in
the gut. Anytime we use antibiotics, they kill off both bad and good
bacteria. I have used different makers of probiotics and have had the most
success with those found at www.b-naturals.com This company is very
upfront about exactly what is in their products...none of that "I can't tell

you because it's a proprietary formula" crap. (major pet peeve of mine when
companies won't provide hard cold facts about what is in their product)
Yogurt doesn't contain enough good bacteria and Bene-Bac has a low volume of

beneficial bacteria, and contains ingredients which have questionable value.

(vegetable oil, sugar, silicon dioxide, artificial color, Polysorbate 80,
preserved with tertiary butyl hydroquinone and ethoxyquin)

You might want to try a product called Berte's Digestion Blend.
http://www.b-naturals.com/digestion-blend-16-oz-p-101
Digestion Blend contains beneficial bacteria, pancreatic enzymes, amino
acids and medicinal herbs in a convenient powder form. Designed to help heal

the entire gastrointestinal system, this formula is beneficial for dogs
suffering from Irritable Bowel Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Colitis,
GI disorders and chronic diarrhea.

Ingredients: One tablespoon contains:
L-Glutamine (500 mg), Lactobacillus Acidophilus 100 Million CFU (100 mg),
Lactobacillus Bulgaricus 100 Million CFU (75 mg), Streptococcus Themophilus
75 Million CFU (75 mg), Ginger Root (10 mg), N-Acetyl-Glucosamine (50 mg),
L-Glycine (32 mg), Papain (50 mg), Pepsin (100 mg), Pancreatin 4x (100 mg),
Pancrelipase (50 mg), Ox Bile Extract (60 mg), Bromelain (40 mg), Amylase
(30 mg), Trypsin (25 mg) and Betaine (30 mg).
Other Ingredients: Chicken Liver Powder, and Whey
