To all those thinking of Chris and I and the bush fires. We live in a
different state about 3.5 hours flying time from Melbourne Victoria so are
not affected however a few of our friends who live up there have been to
what extent we don't know, fortunately none of them have perished. 

After saying that I was in Melbourne over the past weekend way South of
where the main fire was. Although it gets hot here in Perth ( this week it
will be 40 plus) I have never experience anything like they had. To give you
some idea of the heat and wind imagine standing in front of a gas fire that
has been on all day in a small room then turn the fan up to maximum. The
amount of hot air movement on your legs is still less than the heat and
winds that they had to contend with or so it felt. At my friends place where
I stayed the winds where strong enough to bend small trees over and pointing
in the same direction for most of the day plus the heat which had climb to
48c was enough to keep small embers alight that when they landed plus the
winds made the fire move so quickly that people could not run away as there
was nowhere to run to. To give you some idea of how fast it was; the
president of a dog club thought he had plenty of time. He had 20 dogs all
loaded up in his dog trailer and 4 wheel drive ready to drive away however
the fire storm hit so fast that they only had time to run to a dame to save
themselves all the dogs burnt to death.

If you have seen the interviews with Kevin Rudd our PM. (and I'm not a fan
of his ) the look on his face and the bewilderment in his eyes says it

One way you can help is by going to this site for Shelties they have come up
with a super idea for donating to help the dogs of those who cannot pay vet
bills as so many of the dog have been burnt. Chris and I have entered all
of my working dogs even those that have passed on. If you can help Email
