Way back in the 60's there was a great German import named Ch. Ulk Wikingerblut, owned by Ralph Roberts. I owned one of his daughters. When going to breed her I was turned down by a stud dog owner saying she "wasn't the quality he wanted bred to his dog." Ralph said that he never turned down breedings to Ulk because people were GOING to breed their bitches anyway, might as well have the pet puppy world get at least "half" a good dog. I think this applies to Mr. Hunt or Mr. Hunte (not familiar with him). If the pet world gets one-half Dallas puppies, they are getting "very good stuff." I neither agree nor disagree with Ralph's thinking. There is merit on both sides regarding putting good blood out there in the pet market. I admit, I did turn down a couple of bitches who wanted to breed to Don Quixote. However, this conversation with Ralph always stuck in my mind.
