The simple situation for dealing with these situations is admit to NOTHING.
Don't admit that your dog was out in the yard, don't admit it was your
dog......admit to nothing...it's like when the insurance company tells you not
to admit fault even if you know an accident was your fault......you have more
options and rights if you do not admit to anything regardless of what the truth
is.
