When I HATE the human race.... today was one of them.
I spent hours today traipsing around in the woods of rural Alabama, in the
rain. I was trying to find a litter of puppies born there.  I did finally,
with Diedre's help find the litter. Unfortunately, momma dog had them so
well hidden and placed that there is NO way to get them out of there without
a bulldozer. So, at least for the time being, the pups will have to stay
where they are.  The good news is Momma and pups are more or less safe. They
are on private FENCED property and the homeowner (really nice people! not
the reason I hate people!!) are feeding her well and TRYING to 'tame' her.
No luck on that one so far. They also have two other dogs that were also
strays. The male lab x (neutered) seems to be protecting momma and pups. He
became highly agitated when Diedre got close. We're going to wait a couple
of weeks for the pups to open their eyes and start moving about. Then we'll
try again to get them to come out of their hole. In the meantime they are
still trying to get momma to come to them. The homeowner is going to spend a
little time when she can just sitting outside the 'den' talking, so the pups
get used to hearing her... hoping that makes them easier to catch.

This momma dog was DUMPED at these folks property. She has been there about
three weeks. The homeowner has been trying to catch her ever since she was
dumped there. And apparently this is not the first time this has happened.
In fact that is how they got their other two dogs. How in heavens name can
someone do this?  What I wouldn't give for just 5 minutes with the scumbag
that would dump a pregnant, scared dog in the middle of nowhere.

This girl is not purebred GSD as was originally believed. I suspect a LOT of
chow in her background. Lord knows what the puppies are, I didn't get a
chance to see them.

Ahh, sorry for rambling... I just needed to vent.
