These are excellent suggestions!!! I, also, teach for a university and use
online technologies. Regional clubs could get on board with these as well. We
need more than a website!

In my professional life in higher education, I've been heavily involved in
distance learning - the use of technology to facilitate teaching and learning
for students and faculty separated by distance. I also managed a unit of
people located all over the state of Maine. We routinely met via conference
call and also by polycom (involves the ability to both see and hear the people
you are meeting with).
It seems to me that we should, as a club, investigate whether the use of these
kinds of technologies (which are now widely available and have come down
dramatically in cost) to help us to address the following:
(1) substitute at least one face-to-face meeting of the GSDCA board - meeting
instead via technology and saving all those travel costs
(2) doing away with the need for an executive committee since it is so easy to
engage the entire board in any ad hoc decisions that might need to be made.
Arranging conference calls is quick and easy.
(3) perhaps allowing our board to meet more than 4 times a year (since the
face-to-face meetings are so long and the agenda's are packed).
Just some thoughts....
