I was born during the depression my parents got married during the depression. My grandmother raised eight kids through the depression on fish and soup because most of the boys joined the merchant marine. I started school during WWTWO. We learned to save things. We learned to appreciate small things. We never thought of ourselves as being poor. Till the day she died my mother could never throw anything out. She saved string and paper clips and foil and things that were broken but could be repaired. I can not tell you what it was like to move her out to California after my father died. You would be amazed at how many bits and pieces can fit in small glass jars and old candy tins. -- norma hansburg www.normahansburg.com ============================================================================ POST is Copyrighted 2010.
