I believe the biggest problems with AKC conformation shows are the
exhibitors, or at least MANY of them <in our breed>. They feel the
need to cheat (by dyeing dogs, fixing ears, fixings tails, using mood
altering drugs to change temperament, etc.) Exhibitors are also poor
sports. (ie "How could the judge have picked THAT piece of crap?")
They lie (My STUD dog NEVER produced--fill in the blank with HD, bad
elbows, bloat, torsion, etc...) Sometimes exhibitors make it hard for
us to have fun--when Punky was being shown, people would actually come
up to Billy and me and say something like "If I had known you'd be
here, I'd have stayed home." WTF? To me, after 30 years, it IS still
fun. But sometimes, it's hard to say that.

.....My fourth grade students do lots of writing ( most of them would
rather not). At the end of the school year for the past two years I've
given them the topic of.." What is your teacher's biggest problem and
what can you do to help him fix it"...They must give examples with
details to convince their reading audience ( me)...So my question to
you is What is the biggest problem with AKC conformation
shows?....this question is not meant to be hostile or critical....I'm
just curious as to what others think the problems are...I think the
biggest problem is the Two Major requirement....I like the CKC way
much better..Ed
