If you breed two long coats together all the resulting progent will?be long
coats..... coat inheritance works much the same as color inheritance..... By
the same token you could breed a long coated bitch to my stud dog and you would
never get a long coated puppy because he doesn't carry a gene for it....
however all the resulting progeny would carry a recessive gene?for long
coats.... which is why if you try linebreeding in GV Crunch you will likely get
long coats; because since it was known he didn't carry a recessive for long
coats he was bred to many long coat bitches (a perfect example would be GV Polo
who was sired by GV Crunch out of a long coat bitch) and to bitches who carried
the long coat factor.

I've had breedings quite close to Crunch and had several long coats. In one
instance I had 3 out of 6. They were easier to sell than the regular coats
because they were "so cute"! So, in other words, just because the parents
had regular coats that does not mean you're out of the woods. It can happen
any time.

it has made me smile a little with the thoughts of a Mexican Hairless and/or
a Chinese Crested -- these breeds have "no coat" -- just kidding!
IF the "no coat", which is what I feel is the case, means "no LONG coat"
it's a strange recessive as we've had the recent thread on color as well.
"NO guarantees" --- However, I've felt, in my years of study and some
experience, that stuff beyond the third generation is diluted or watered
down
a bit and may not show up --- unless close or inbreeding is done on those
earlier generations. Norma and her 2 cents worth here in a way that,
as usual, isn't normal ---

There's been quite a bit of good information on here lately about coat
color, but I don't know of anyone that is breeding them with no coat. That
could be quite a selling point. And what would you get if you bred two no
