Yes, I think I would need some kind of verification of the story....
it is a second hand report....and doesn't make a lot of sense.

I truly think the story is somehow been given wrong.
Once the ribbon is given, the points accompany.
if there was no competition and no crossover, then there would not have been
a point IF he was the only dog there. Perhaps the person misunderstood.
If I were the breeder or owner, I would contact CKC and give them the judges
name and show and
query this explanation. If WD was given and there was a point, the judge
cannot deny that.
Also a judge can ask the age of the dog...

Are the CKC rules that different from AKC rules? Why would a judge award WD

then withhold the point? If there was an issue why not withhold both the ribbon
and the point? Also, how would the judge know how old a dog was? It is not in

A friend of mine told me this morning that her boy (from my breeding) went
WD in Canada a couple of weeks ago at a small all-breed show. She and her
husband were so excited because it would be the last point needed for his
Canadian championship. However, after the judge awarded the ribbon, he
informed my friend's husband (who handles the dog himself) that he was
withholding the point because the dog was too old. 7 year old male who is
in great physical shape. Honestly, I think some judges are in league with
those who want to stop the sport of dog showing!!!!!!
