In the U S a judge can award blue ribbons in all the classes and still
withhold the points. Something I could never understand because if you are
going to withhold why give a blue ribbon. To me the place to withhold is not
award a first place ribbon then the dog does not come back in for winners.
Also, cannot award WD and then withhold the point. He/she can say to the
class I am awarded a WD today so withhold all Winner ribbons and they would
get no point. You don't award WD and then think you can withhold the
points, that is up to AKC. Once you award WD and give out a WD ribbon the dog
would get the point in the U S.

A friend of mine told me this morning that her boy (from my breeding) went
WD in Canada a couple of weeks ago at a small all-breed show. She and her
husband were so excited because it would be the last point needed for his
Canadian championship. However, after the judge awarded the ribbon, he
informed my friend's husband (who handles the dog himself) that he was
withholding the point because the dog was too old. 7 year old male who is
in great physical shape. Honestly, I think some judges are in league with
those who want to stop the sport of dog showing!!!!!!
