Lea,
I agree about the downtime but not about "slow judging" as you say. As an
owner, if I am paying big time money to have my dog shown, I darn well better
get my money's worth.? I want the Judge to LOOK at each dog.? Take the dogs
around a bunch of times and make ME feel like I got my money's worth.? He/she
may not like my dog, but at least I got the same look as all the other dogs.?
To give only 2 mins at an AB show does not even compare to what judges should
be looking at?in a Specialty and more important, the Nationals.? Two very
different beasts as far as I am concerned.? AB judges look for very generic
dogs.? Specialty?and especially National judges look for the cream of the
crop.? They should spend as much time as they need to select the best dogs.?

there is down time with nothing in the ring sometimes and it would be nice
if that didn't happen. but, the judges also sometimes take forever judging.
AKC says judges should be able to do 30 dogs an hour for a regular show. i say
how about 10 dogs an hour at the national? that still gives the exhibitors
plenty of consideration time.
