One of our show list members has a pretty sick mama bitch. She whelped the 12th and all went fine though the owner suspected she might have retained a placenta. She did get oxytocin. Yesterday she spiked a 104 fever and won't eat, drink etc. The vet gave amoxi & injection of Baytril. The pups are screaming and she suspects they aren't getting much milk. She is on the way back to the vet right now as the bitch's fever has not come down. She is going to talk to the vet about giving fluids I.V. and will likely have to bottle feed the pups for now. I told her I would post this to the list as she just doesn't have the time right now. Is it safe to let pups nurse when mama is on baytril? Any other suggestions?
