The DM Test
I don't often write on this list, and find it enjoyable to read and learn.
With that being said, I feel the "DM" Test is a "TOOL" to be incorporated into
our breeding program.
As with any "TOOL" it has it's interpretation, depending on who is using it and
the outcome they wish it to have.
I use it in my breeding program, as a "TOOL" . I feel that by using it this
way, I may be able to make wiser choices. I'm not saying it's the perfect
"TOOL", it's what we have at the present time.....As I recall, back in the
early days of OFA, there were people who reflected on that "TOOL" feeling like
it wasn't correct. As with all choices, we have to live with them....as I tell
people when inquiring about a dog to breed to, it's just a "TOOL" that I want
to use in my breeding program.
I did hire a geneticist and she also did some research for me.....it was very
interesting. Again, "TOOL'S" are building blocks for our future - it's all a
matter of what and how you wish to use them.
