Freedom to have a well run kennel, with dirt in the runs, water buckets YOU
like, your puppies in your bedroom. Jim (husband) built a USDA "qualified"
kennel for 40 dogs (I think 40, maybe 30), a couple of years before he died.
Concrete, raised sections between the runs, troughs to direct the waste and
water down to a separate septic system, special whelping rooms (remember no
pups
in the house), ADA Parking and access....and inspections not only by building
inspectors but USDA officials, all with corrections. Business licenses, USDA
licenses, probably more.
The cost? the above is for the "plant", and the rest? I enjoyed having my
dogs litters in my bedroom or in my "dog" room. That would be my cost:-( if I
were to breed again, and I won't.
