Giving you all notice - Put a microphone in my hands and make me do a verbal
critique and I will be blunt

Fixed tail, missing tooth and could you do my hair that color too?

Absolutely !!!! So many posts have touched on "pp" judging.
(poor or political) The in ring critique is a start for the cure. If
the
judge must give reasons for his placings, the AB judges would be
forced to learn at least something about the breed. Of course the
AKC is not going to allow that at the AB shows______just wishful
thinking there. It could and should be done at the specialties. It
used to be done by some of the greats in the breed. Lloyd Brackett
and Ernie Loeb critiqued the first four in every class whether it was
AB or specialty. Most other breeds require the judge to critique
the placings in every class. Thus, the judge speaks into a hand
held recorder, verbalizing the reasons for the placings, and then
automatically has her material for the written critique to be published.
When those placing have to be explained, it WILL be objective or
the judge will be wearing the emporer's clothes.

If only we all had the ability for great oratory as Dave has. He did the
same thing at our show and we all really appreciated his comments. It's a
great
way to do it....right when the dogs are still in the ring and placed as he
wants them. Much easier than trying to remember 4 hours later why you
placed a
dog 4th in its class. I wouldn't mind giving critiques that way at
all....if
asked, I will do it.
