Okay, color me a dreamer, but I've never seen this before so need to ask
about this on the list.
While walking down the aisles from my stall to where the show was being
held, I happened to approach a group of people standing around a
grooming
table which was in the aisle with a dog on the table. This is a fairly
normal thing to see, so I really didn't pay that close of attention, as I
was on my way to go watch the dogs. As I came alongside the people and
dog,
I noticed out of the corner of my eye, the dog appeared to be being
flanked
by the people to be "held still" while one of the people had the dog's
foreleg in a vice-grip type hold and a rather large syringe in the
other.
I
cannot distinctly tell whether the syringe was being put in or being
withdrawn, but something of that nature was obviously taking place.
I thought by the look of the syringe, it was far too big for someone
administering a vitamin like B-12, and certainly the way the leg was
being
held, it appeared they may have been administering something IV, which
B-12
wouldn't be administered like that. I don't really know because I've
never
seen anything like this happening at a show - probably I'm too oblivious,
but. now, that I have seen it, I want to know what I potentially saw?
I asked a few people, and they said they had heard that some
exhibitors/handlers were injecting dogs with diet drugs or some other
performance enhancing drug. Is this possible? And if so, wouldn't it
be
considered highly unethical and certainly dangerous to the dogs?
