WAY TO GO - Kelly and Drummer!!! I wanted to call her today and it just slipped away from me this evening - as I've been working on getting some AGSRA stuff ready for next week. I am SOOO Proud of her and Drum!! Kelly Malone, for those of you that don't know, is the most awesome herding instructor you could ever ask for. Originally, I tried to get her to work my dogs and she made me work them myself and now I'm hooked on this herding stuff - that a few months ago I said I just didn't get. The very best part is of course the relationship you earn working your dog in an honest venue and she knew that was what would get me. Watching Kelly and Drummer bring the sheep out, sort through them, return the ones to the barn that were not going to work that session in their very calm manner and soft voice approach can still amaze me but thanks to her guidance Cody and I are working our way across the field and putting the sheep away and bringing them out and of course still making mistakes but he is calm and I am calm and the world is good. He loves working !! I love watching him out there - in fact - that sometimes gets me in trouble because I'm so amazed I forget they are my sheep - but, I'm much better than I used to be and interestingly enough not only does Cody know that but the sheep do also. I'm so excited for her - if it were not already almost midnight I'd call her now. By the way Sandy - that new little girl she has, Rissa, - her Reva grand daughter is a Cody daughter. She even shares her with me sometimes - although as "the other gramma" I only get the left over kisses. Elaine In a message dated 10/10/2009 5:12:54 P.M. Kelly Malone & I would like to brag about: Karma's Dragon Drums v KcK, STDd, ATDs, HTAD lll, HRD lll He has now finished his HXAd with a 3rd place in this class at these National Trials. He also finished his HXAs at the Saturday National (for all breeds) trial with a 1st in class AND a High In Trial. He also started his search for CH points with another 1st in class AND High in Trial at the (for GSDs only) Saturday National trial. The two HITs he earned today are his 5th and 6th so far. I wish that I could have been there to see Kelly & Drummer do their "thing". Of course, Kelly owns Drummer and has done all of his training, and he is also her working stock dog every day.
