Mediocore dogs win because the judge eliminates all dogs with obvious faults
then picks the winner from what is left.

And maybe this attitude is why we have mediocre dogs winning big???? Sidegait
again and again is only a part of a great dog. I think I am sticking with the
standard. Soft backs are great for cats, but it looks horrible on a GSD. Why
breed to it in the first place? The dogs I saw with "soft" backs did
not have the correct gait. Why put something into your line that you will have
to correct later? That is like unlearning a bad habit, why start it in the first
place?

Some of the best moving dogs in lots of breeds have soft toplines and Ann is
ight, all big cats, when they are moving have soft backs - allows for
lexibility... I know what the GSD standard says, but if you have a dog with a
orrect gait and a soft back, I would NEVER fault him as toplines are easy to
orrect...
