I've emailed Sheila several times about what a special mom she had! I met
Elaine (and Sheila) at the first GSD Nationals I attended in North Carolina. I
went to support Mo Murkland, who's Jerry Lee was the Hero Dog that year. I had
my first showdog at that point, but had no clue what a "good" dog should look
like, or move like. I spent 3 hours ringside with Elaine. I introduced myself
as a newbie, and she took over. She stood there with me, giving me a rundown
on the dogs in the ring. Hours into our conversation, Sheila arrived and
Elaine requested that we go outside, so Sheila could demonstrate a "dog that
moved properly." Sheila ran the dog, and Elaine taught some more.
Elaine was one of the special people along the way, that encouraged me! When
Spunky got his CH in front of his name, there were alot along the way that I
thought about. Elaine was one of those people. In 2007, when he went Select
at the Nationals, once I recovered I also was thinking about special people
along the way--Elaine was again at the top of the list.

Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] sad news
It is with great sadness that I inform all of you of the passing of my mother.
She was known as Elaine, with a few last names, Rothleder, back in the 70's,
Bialick Estep more recently.
She fought a courageous battle against cancer, but we all know that fighting
takes energy.
She was a true lover of the breed and spent her life striving to breed great
dogs. Life was not kind to her but she was kind to all she met.
She will be missed greatly by both myself and my younger sister, Dianne. But
we both know she has crossed over the bridge and is
now with our brother, Mark and all of the many dogs that have been part of our
lives for so many years.
She leaves behind one 11 year old bitch who is now part of my pack. She is
adjusting well in a short time.
If anyone feels a need to do something, please donate to Rescue, she would have
saved all the dogs herself if she could have.
