We bred Sable to Sable (Both were out of 1 Sable, 1 Black & Tan)????? We got
exactly?4 Sables,?4 Black & Tans.?? However, of those sables 2 produced black &
tans(& sables obviously), and 1 only produced Sables with several litters?out
of?black & tans?????? The 4th never was bred so who knows

Only one parent has to be dominant carrying a sable gene from each parent to
produce all sables. Juneknowmyname Apfelsine Edan ROM had two sable parents and
produced 31 sable puppies, bred to B/T males.

This is only true if both parents are homozygous sable - if each parent of
the litter also had a black and tan parent, then they can produce both sable
and black/tan, if they carry the black recessive gene, they can produce
blacks. Breeding sable to black and tan also does not necessarily give you
all
sables, although in the breedings I have done the breakdown was anywhere from
50-75% sable puppies.
