I loved Royal Canin when I fed it, it is just hard to get where I live now, because the sled dog folks I bought it from moved to Alaska. It's the energy (fat) level that accelerates growth, not so much protein levels. The 32% protein has only 14% fat. It's the same with Senior diets: high quality higher protein levels to support immune system, etc. but not high fat levels. >From the Royal Canin US site: >http://www.caninehealthnutrition.com/maxipuppy.htm "Up to the age of 15 months, large breed puppies will increase their birth weight by 70 times. Too much energy from fat can contribute to the acceleration of muscle and tissue development without corresponding skeletal growth. This imbalance can lead to potential skeletal problems." Rachel & the Ark "The whole question is not only a question of the dog/horse, but quite as much, if not more so, a question of the fitness of the leader."
