[ SHOWGSD-L ] re dog shows, salute to good friends

Last weekend I attended shows in Baton Rouge, La put on by the GSDC of Baton
Rouge and the GSDC of Louisiana. These clubs deserve a lot of credit. It
took a lot of searching to come up with both a hotel and show site due to the
after effects of hurricane Katrina, but I must say they accomplished a feat
extraordinare. The show site at a private business was great, albeit the weat
her could have co operated a bit better. The shows were well run with a
small but very dedicated group putting them on. Well done to all of you. You
should be proud.
At an after show dinner, I had the occasion to dine with some great friends,
one of which I have to salute....she saved my life. I choked on some food
and could not breathe for over a minute. I was not able to speak, but my
observant friend noticed my quiet distress and jumped into gear. She
performed a
Heimlich maneuver and dislodged the food. She may look small but she is
one strong lady. Thank you Loren.........you are the best. She took some
terrible ribbing the next day - heard she nearly beat me up, bounced me off
the ceiling etc, etc. You know the rumour mill at dog shows. We all laughed
heartily, was so glad to be able to do so. She and Scott are good people -
but call on Loren if you are in trouble!! (gotcha Scotty)
I also want to thank Sharlonna Mcgaha for coming to this show from
California. This gal is trying to help clubs out with entries that are
struggling to
get handlers there. I am confident with her input and sheer determination we
will all benefit.
