you might not want to laugh so quickly <VBG>. the gsdca actually DOES
have limits on how long anyone can serve, limiting the number of consecutive
years of being on the board in any capacity. i realize that someone can
simply go off the board for a short period of time and then get back on again.
BUT, they still have to be elected and the membership chooses to return
some individuals to the BOD; i think some of those choices are wise and some
are VERY unwise but i only have one vote and will continue to use that
vote to try and help elect those who i feel will do the best job they can for
the MEMBERS. i do believe that too many people vote on name recognition;
in a perfect world, i would hope that everyone would thoroughly look into
each candidate's qualifications but that's a pipe dream - not going to happen
within the gsdca or anywhere else. there really isn't an answer, at least
a simple answer. i DON'T think calling people names is productive and the
term "lifer" has become ugly. perhaps the reduction in the number of
people on the board will help - just might make each person in office take
responsibility for his or her actions as it will become harder to hide behind
rhetoric and other BOD members. it can give you one heck of a headache but
sit through a few consecutive BOD meetings via conference call - it's VERY
eye--opening!
