The OVC has just sent out a letter to all veterinarian advising they will be
discontinuing this program on January 31st, 2008. This will have
considerable impact on the breeders of purebred dogs who have used their
services.
I have encouraged my veterinarian in Canada to write a letter of protest to
them, and I encourage anyone who has used their services to do the same.
Write the administrator of the college to protest this, which I am doing
today.

In the past they have always had only 1 veterinarian head to program. A few
years ago when Dr. Dobson left, they assigned 3 which has caused conflicts
in results and opinons. I am suggesting they go back to their workable
solution....find someone qualified solely to head the program and revise it.
At a time with all the negative animal legislation, I see this as just one
more way to withdraw the support of breeders, because however you look at it,
this is what it comes down to.
Publicly funded universities do bend with public opinion, and a large amount
makes the University of Guelph tick is from public funding.
Protest them showing a serious lack of Canadian support for the breeders of
purebred dogs. Don't just roll over and say what next - do something about
it.
