thank you, helen. it was a beautiful dog on a beautiful float - i doubt
that anyone else is worried about what the dog was "called." it looked like
a GSD - that is all that the attendees will remember.

I think that negative comments are amusing. As a previous "parade goer" I
can tell you that the floats pass by in a matter of less than a minute or
so, and all you are left with is an *impression* of what you just saw!
Just as you take in the delights of one float, another one comes along, or
a band or something else to absorb your mind. If you happen to question
the parade attendees' they will tell you ONLY about the German Shepherd on
the police float and the dogs walking around it. They will have absolutely
no knowledge of who bred what or why and will care even less! The dog did
look like a German Shepherd, and there were some great pictures on
Facebook. It was a good advertisement for the breed because all people
will remember is police and the proud GSD representing them.
