I was the chair of the SP Futurity.
We received two checks. After the first I was able to talk to Nancy Harper
and questioned her about it since I was sure we had to have more money
coming. This is the most gracious lady and so much in tune with people and
their problems. She assured me that there would be another check as there
had been a mistake made which will be rectified. So, yesterday we received
our second check. However, in neither envelopes there was an explanation for
the disbursements. Our club had the second most ads of all the Futurities so
we really did expect more than what we got.
I had no idea that Rau was charging such an exorbitant amount of money and,
yes, all future sponsors of Futurities should make themselves familiar with
what they eventually end up with regarding monies. What good will it do us
that the trophies are paid by Purina if it goes out of the window paying
Rau? Just my thoughts.

What I am saying is that every club that is thinking about hosting a Fut
Mat
had better know UP FRONT what they are and are not going to be reimbursed
for. All it is doing now is sucking money from the regional clubs. There
is
no way you can make up for the expense that the clubs are putting out. You
say
you provided all of these wonderful things and you only spent 250.,00
Dollars That is amazing to say the least. We have to rent the park and extra
day,
pay for an extra day of insurance naming the PC co-insured Fly a judge in
and
put them up for a night. Feed the people who come to the show. You would
need 35 extra entries to pay for the extra expense for the hosting club.
Did
your club get that many extra entries?

I was at the SE Futurity. The shows were held in a park on a beautiful ball
field that my bare feet just swooned over. They had a tent set up all 3
days
for the handlers that had ice, cold drinks and fresh fruit available. They
had raffles all 3 days and members had food available for everyone. If I
recall
correctly, they pulled 3 point majors for the specialty shows and the
Futurity/Maturity itself was small. The members worked hard and did a great
job.
I too am curious as to what the 950.00 was for.
