I have a solid black male that I bred and my daughter owns his littermate -
a solid black female. The female is much "blacker" and her coat is
glossier than my male's. I have noticed that my male's undercoat is more
gray than black, while his sister's undercoat is black. I'm sure there are
different genes for undercoat.
