[ SHOWGSD-L ] question, and info needed

I have a friend who called today to say his male GSD 4 years old has just
been diagnosed with
acute lymphocytic leukemia. The dog just suddenly became listless with loss
of appetite. The vet said from info he had seen usually the prognosis is
poor and figured the boy would have 5 months or less to live.
The owner wants to attempt chemo and will be starting prednisone, but asked
me if I had heard of anyone having a dog with this has successfully been
treated or will he just be prolonging the inevitable.
