If you look at a raw diet or what wolves eat, it is likely close to 70%
protein. Does this cause problems, well if it is a wolf we are talking about
not likely. Dogs however are mutations of the wolf, so it is harder to say. I
do advise my clients to consider the Adkins diet when thinking about their
dog's diet. Mostly protein, and then some of the rest of life.

However I am feeding about 24% protein and my dogs look great, with no weight
problems.

Hi all, I have a question that I have been thinking about. It used to be, 20
or 30 years ago, that protein levels above the mid 20s in dog foods were cause
for alarm amongst vets. They said that high levels would lead to kidney
disease. Today, foods are running much higher levels of protein...some even
42%, and yet, I never hear anybody talking about this. Have ideas changed or is
it the source of the proteins that make a difference? Just curious.
