With all due respect: I am a medical language specialist and have been for 10+ years. We do not use prosternum, ever. It's not in any medical dictionary - maybe in a bug book but not people, and some MTs do transcribe for animal hospitals. There are the words PROSTATE and PROST-R-ATE and many other commonly confused words in the medical language, but there is no word other than posternum. For example, it is indeed bicepS, not bicep if you are talking about one muscle on one arm. Also, there's no such word as aspirinS. It's just aspirin, no matter how many you take. There's palpate and palpitation. You don't ever palpitate an abdomen, you palpate it.
