I quit feeding Pro Plan 15 years ago. I liked it, but then
the dogs' coats started looking dry and unkempt for some
reason. I've fed just about everything at one time or the
other. We had the dogs on PHD for a few years and loved
the food. But it was so highly concentrated, it gave them
the runs unless we literally only fed 1/2 cup per meal.
They looked great but were always half starved. :(
For the past 3 years, I've been feeding Eagle Holistic and
cycling through the 3 "single protein" plus the chicken
and rice and "large breed adult" formulae. But I'm
thinking we'll be switching to raw soon with Bravo as a
base. One dog is already completely converted as she is
boarding and that's what the trainer feeds. The other dog
has on-going medical issues. So we're thinking of going
raw with him as well. I have two more bags of Eagle to go
through first and then we have to purchase a freezer. So
there's plenty of time to make a final decision.
Eagle Holistic is PRICEY and does contain grain. But it's
easily digestible, keeps weight and condition on the dogs
and they really like eating it. Hope this is helpful...
