Someone had a great idea in private. How about AKC splits the MicroChip
profits and use funds for educational programs.
My Regional club does do "meet the breed" booths with lots of educational
resources at events such as the huge Ohio Pet Expo. Several thousands of
people stop by and get access to education materials, reps from our club and
get encouraged to find out more by coming to a meeting or a dog show etc.
If my Regional Club can put it's time, energy and resources into quite a bit of
education, then AKC certainly can.

Sounds a lot like politics and empty promises to me. More education
programs! Swell. I'm all for education. Let's to a whole bunch of PSAs so
we
reach the folks that don't go to dog shows, aren't picking up flyers on how to
buy a pet in a vet's office, don't see the "meet the breeds" booths at doggy
activity days.
How are you paying for those PSAs Jeff? Or whatever other idea you like?
How are you reaching the people who buy pet store puppies, how do you
educate THEM, or would you just rather write them off because you don't
approve
of
how they got their puppy, never mind there aren't enough bred by breeders you
DO approve of to go around?
