Even with a good quality vaccine given at the right time, there are
several days before the immunity builds up. In fact, if there was
some immunity already, the vaccine will knock it down before it
starts to build up from the new shot.

I've wondered if cases of Parvo that follow a vaccination are caused
by exposure to the virus before the immune system has a chance
to respond.

There has also been a new strain of Parvo going around and not all vaccines
offer protection against it.
