I am really offended by this. There is NO comparison between Fred Lanting
and Andrew Hunte.
Fred loves his dogs and treats them very well, better than many on this
list. I will NOT pay anyone for using his name. Fred Lanting screwed up
and got caught selling a dog at a dog show; I have seen many on this list do
the same thing or worse. Fred Lanting has never been anything but a
gentleman whenever I have spoken with him or competed against him. When I
have shown in the same ring with him he was always a gracious winner and/or
loser. He never failed to congratulate me before he left the ring, when I
won, and, when he beat me, he always accepted my congratulations with
humility and genuine delight. That is a lot more than I can say for many of
the people that I have competed against over the past 4 years. When I
competed against him in the obedience ring, and got my usual mediocre
scores, he never denigrated me for it, just congratulated me and always
treated me with respect.
I guess we all see things differently, mostly based on our own personal
history. I am amazed at how many people were surprised that Paul Root voted
to admit Hunte. He was the only person I knew must have voted yes, when the
story first broke. The Paul I know is tenaciously, blindly passionate about
destroying PETA and their ilk; I would have been disappointed in him (and we
do NOT agree on his way of destroying PETA) if he had not gone for the gold,
as he perceived it.
I don't think Hunte is the answer to Raleef's goals; I believe that others
with a strong economic interest in companion animals are: PetsMart, Petco,
Merial, Purina, Dodge, etc. The pet industry in America is a multi-BILLION
dollar industry. These companies, and their shareholders, do NOT want the
Aristas to win any more than we do, probably more.
