You throw them out if the one trait is proven to increase the incidence of a
crippling health problem or similar. I think that the statement by Kathy
"lovely winning but genetically companion dog" is the best I've ever heard
it put.
That goes for show and or working dogs. We imported a V rated SchH2 dog that
had all the right stuff, except he couldn't tell the difference between my
infant son's crying and a kitten's mew. Now remember, the GSD is the breed
of discernment, an inborn love and tolerance for children and temperament is
the paramount virtue of this breed, so, saying this, that dog was GONE, all
hefty price tag and all. He went to a police department to chase bad guys.
That one bad trait eliminated him from our bloodlines FOREVER and ALL his
good points couldn't make up for the one bad.
People's lives depend on temperament and puppies' lives depend on healthy
parents..
