Parvo is rampant in the shelters...it is a tragedy for this poor pup. We can
only hope that the other pup makes it. More shelters are finding ways to
quarantine puppies from the rest of the population; if they can keep them
separate for the 2 weeks required, it makes it easier to entice a rescue to
commit to them as they know they are not potentially incurring an enormous
veterinary bill with the probability of a sad outcome.
Oprah was obviously trying to do something nice in adopting the pups...most
likely from a puppy mill if they were purebred. I have found SEVERAL purebred
dogs in the last 15 minutes on Craigslist... 2 Yorkies, a Boston, a Boxer, a
Mastiff, a few designer dogs...a Puggle...I have tried to contact the people to
ask them to PLEASE call breed rescue...
Lilac Grove Farm is taking a purebred black Lab and her 2 week old purebred
pups! Chocolate, yellow and black! Those dogs will be adopted in a heartbeat in
the Northeast...
