Well Sally - looks like you started a good thread. Just have to get in on
this.
I just figured out that in the house alone, I have a 13 year old, one that
is 12, one that is 9 and two that are 8 1/2.
Outside, because they don't all get along, I have my McKinley daughter that
will be 12 in January (and still a feisty old
bird), a gal (not my breeding) that is 11 1/2, a brother & sister that are
11 -- and SHE can still bail out of any pen that
isn't covered, and a 9 1/2 year old who is only outside because every so
often she 'loses it' on someone.
Sassy, who is 11 1/2 is a half sister to my Liz who is 9. Both are out of
an Adam son, Ch. Proven Hills Bold n'Counter.
All but Sassy go back to my old bloodlines.
I know that one day soon I will be going through what I went through a few
years back. For awhile there I seemed to
be forever taking someone in the the Vet and bawling my face off over them,
till finally she asked me if I had any more
old ones at home. Fortunately I was able to tell her 'No - that's it for
awhile"
I have been fortunate to have had several of my dogs live to be 12, 13, 14
and even over 15. Since I know that I am
not getting any younger, I am having to be very careful now about what I
keep out of a breeding ---- guess that happens
to us all sooner or later.
