Congo part 2 If this part 2 appears on the list as bad as my first post, I'm obviously doing something wrong, which means I am no longer perfect. By Fausta Wertz The landscaper was awarded an insurance settlement of $250.000, Congo's on death row, and now the Jameses are trying to save their dog. I talked to Mr. James's brother, who is also upset that the local Animal Warden was quoted in the Trentonian saying that "he believes the family may have intentionally wounded one of the pups to make it look in worse shape than it was." Meanwhile, the prosecutor told the Packet that the family could have saved Congo by taking a plea deal, by agreeing to have their dog labeled as "potentially dangerous". The other four German shepherds the Jameses own have received that label, which according to the Packet, "comes with a $700 annual licensing fee and certain requirements about the dogs' containment". The James have appealed the judge's decision, and there's going to be a rally on Tuesday at 400 Witherspoon Street (outside Princeton Township Municipal Court) from 10AM to 2PM. Regardless of Congo's fate, the local authorities are not missing an opportunity to bring on even more regulation and more public spending. There's a dangerous dog registry in the works (along the lines of Megan's Law), along with, - you guessed it - a new dog park to be built at taxpayers' expense. Because here in the Princetons there's always a reason for more public spending. And that's no "man-bites-dog" story. ============================================================================ POST is Copyrighted 2007.
